Special Technique

A special technique is just as it suggests. It's a physical, mental or magical or other technique more powerful than standard ones. They generally are offensive, although there are defensive ones known. They are tough to perform, which means generally someone can only pull them off once a battle, although training with them may extend this.

A character gets a special tech every 10 levels, starting at level 5. At lvl 5 it only has 1 customization point. At lvl 15, 2 points; At lvl. 25, 3 points and so on. Each of these would be a different special tech though, in order to give more variety and customization options.
The customization points can be used for several things, it can be to add an effect to the tech or to increase the damage output if its an attack. In other words, you can add effects or add combat modifers.

Combat modifiers would work like this:

2*(STR+ MODIFIERS + 3d8) or 2*(Special + 1/2 STR + MODIFIERS + Dice roll from Art), depending on if its physical or special based.

If the multiplier is increased twice... then it would be 3* instead of 2*, and so forth.

As for the effects, they would be the ones listed below.

Damage over Time - Damage over time could consist of a burn, choking, poisoning or some other technique that causes them to lose damage over time instead of all at once. Damage over time starts at 1d6, every point adds one die. For that many turns the afflicted suffers 1/10(rounded down to a minimum of 1) of the original damage

Drains- Drains, drain the opponents stats, be it strength, endurance or special, the choice being yours. Drains start at 1d4, every point adding 1 die. A second 1d4 is used to determine the percentage of the drain, between 10-40%.

Incapacitating- An incapacitating tech, be it by stun, freeze, blinding or some other method. Turns incapacitated start at 1d4, every point adding 1 die.

No Healing - They may not be healed for the duration of the effect. Starting at 1d4, every point raises this 1 die value.

Piercing - Reduces the opponent's endurance value to 0.(The Defense rolls and modifiers would still apply though.) However, it only does a percentage of your full damage. Percentage starts at 50% and goes up 10% each point.

Delay- A delayed effect means just that. The technique does not activate immediately for whatever reason, instead doing its damage at a later turn. Start at 1d10 and lower the die value by 1 each point to a minimum of 1d4.

Vampiric- An technique in which a portion of the damage dealt is transferred to your health. Amount restored starts at 1/4, each point lowers the denominator one value.

Art Lock- Prevents the opponent from using any Arts. Duration starts at 1d4, each point increases the die value.

Weapon lock- Turns the opponents weapon value to 0. Duration starts at 1d4, each point increases the die value.

Area of Effect- Technique effects more than one person. Start at 2 and go up one for each point.

Defense boost- Increases users defense rolls to 3d8 for a set duration. Duration starts at 1d4, each point raising the die value.

Restorative- The technique restores a sizable chunk of health at once, can be used on self or another. Start at 30% of maximum health, increase it 10% every point.

Regeneration- The technique recovers 50% of your maximum health over time, this can be used on self or another. The length is determined by how much is restored a turn. Amount restored starts at 1/10, every point lowers the denominator by 2 to a minimum of 1/4.

I will need the following info pmed to me when you create your special attack-

  • Which special attack it is- (just state the level you got it at)
  • The release name( The name you say to release the technique, much like for arts)
  • Where you've chosen to put the points.
  • A brief description of the tech itself.
